What you'll do at
The Engineering Design Artist is responsible for developing 2D/3D renderings of innovative engineering solutions to use within the extended Walmart e-commerce fulfillment network (including Walmart sortable, Walmart Non-sortable, Jet Sortable, Jet Fresh, Sam’s Club, Hayneedle, Shoebuy, etc.) to lower Variable Cost Per Unit (VCPU) and Total Cost Per Unit (TCUP)
Challenges you’ll be tackling
Draft 2D and 3D Engineering Drawings: You will be responsible for drafting and maintaining 2D and 3D engineering drawings from early concept design stage to detail engineering drawings for installation and commissioning of fulfillment warehouse layout and automation solutions. You will draft logistics facility and automation equipment drawings based on engineering standard and to the requirements established by the design engineers.
Work in conjunction with several team members: Collect necessary inputs to create engineering drawings by meeting with the design engineers and other cross functional partners. Clearly understand the key assumptions and expectations to ensure the deliverables meet or exceed the requirements. Review plan drawings, specifications, and other specification documentation with the design engineer and other cross functional partners.
Manage and maintain the repository of drawings: Ensure secure access and proper revision control. Ensure documentation on associated specifications, elevation views/3Dperspectives, engineering calculations, CAD blocks, bill of materials, installation requirements, etc. are stored, managed and maintained appropriately.
Responsible for drafting logistics facility and automation equipment drawings based on engineering standard and to the requirements established by the design engineers. Review plan drawings, specifications, and other specification documentation with the design engineer and other cross functional partners. Based on the inputs from team members, revise the drawing to reflect necessary changes. Inspect for any interferences or implementation challenges and modify the drawings as necessary.
Create 3D renderings of design elements to support visualization, animation, simulation, engineering modeling, and rapid prototyping.
Establish standards for drafting engineering drawings, templates and CAD blocks to streamline and standardize engineering drawings across the extended Walmart E-commerce network.

Travels domestically to and from Hoboken, Bentonville, San Bruno and all Walmart and Jet facilities or work-sites to participate in meetings, workshops, company events, etc. requiring overnight stays. (Percent of travel = 20% or more)
At least 4-6 years’ experience drafting engineering drawings with experience in Auto CAD, Solid Works, Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk 3-D animation products, Navisworks or similar.
Minimum 2 years of experience working on drafting engineering design of highly-automated facility or high speed manufacturing environment or within a fulfillment center, distribution center, or warehouse.
Associate Degree in CAD and Architecture Drafting or similar or Undergraduate Degree in Mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar.
- Previous e-commerce/retail experience drafting engineering designs/layouts.
- Previous experience drafting electrical designs, drawing and schematics with knowledge of engineering drawing standards (e.g. ASME, ANSI).
- A passion to design visualization and be responsible for developing 3D renderings of the engineering layout and animation of automation solutions to enable the key stake holders to effectively visualize the design.
- Expertise in building animation for simulation/emulation models.
- Expertise in design for Six Sigma, FMEA, DOE, FEA, Design for Manufacture, Design for Repair.
