About the Role

Walmart eCommerce is seeking an experienced Inventory Manager to join a fast-paced, new fulfillment operation. This is a startup business where you will leverage your inventory management experience and knowledge of supply chain to develop processes, identify technical solutions, and be hands on to maintain accurate inventory records in a ground zero operation. Successful candidates will be natural self-starters who are comfortable interfacing and driving various functional teams and individuals at all levels of the organization. Keeping an open mind, sense of humor, and recognition you are joining a startup operation where roles and responsibilities are fluid and dealing with ambiguity is par for the course. This role is critical to the success of the program since the efficient handling of company’s products is critical to quality and earning the trust of our marketplace sellers. Successful candidates have a maniacal attention to detail, a knack for simplifying complex processes, and excellent judgment in making tradeoffs between building for the future and managing aggressive launch dates to test and learn.


  • Accurately forecast inventory demand and capacity utilization within Facilities
  • Build reporting to effectively monitor forecast accuracy vs plan
  • Develop inventory allotment and allocation plans by seller and/or FC
  • Devise ways to optimize inventory control procedures
  • Ensure product stock is adequate and can cover direct demand from customers
  • Audit deliveries and shipments to reconcile inventory
  • Develop peak and non-peak planning forecasts and processes
  • Proactively manage promotion planning to effectively inform Operation partners
  • Make recommendations to Sellers to replenish stock avoiding insufficiencies or excessive surplus
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with Sellers to drive engagement, trust and productivity
  • Collaborate with Fulfillment leadership and other staff to ensure business goals are met
  • Develop KPIs, reporting and communication mechanisms with Sellers to actively manage inventory health
  • Report out weekly on business status to leadership

Minimum Requirements 

  • Proven experience as inventory manager or similar field
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
  • Working knowledge of inventory management software (e.g. ERP)
  • Ability to accurately track inventory and create reports
  • Must be proficient in Excel
  • An analytical mind with strong math skills
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA with heavy analytics focus and/or Master’s degree in math, statistics, operations research, or related quantitative discipline such as engineering or supply chain management
