What you'll do at

About the Role

Collaboration:

  • Builds relationships with external suppliers
  • Maintains relationships with Legal, Compliance, Supply Chain and Quality regarding product development
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams (i.e., Marketing, Merchandising, Consumer Insights, Creative Resources) to develop product development plans
  • Assists with the evaluation of supplier profiles and participates in supplier selection 
  • Coordinates, completes, and oversees job-related activities and assignments
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity

Managing the Development of New Products:

  • Plans, executes and monitors all components of consumer product development (e.g., Private Brands)
  • Ensures product plans are in line with category and Walmart goals (e.g., profit, sales, market share, customer experience)
  • Manages suppliers and functional teams (branding, merchandising, marketing) to ensure the completion of project objectives
  • Allocates team resources and confirms projects are executed on time and within budget
  • Ensures all product details (i.e., color, materials used, etc.) and sample products meet quality standards.

Market Research and Analysis:

  • Analyzes product assortment performance, historical data and market research (i.e., competitive shopping, supplier reviews, market analysis) to identify new product development opportunities
  • Stays up-to-date on industry trends impacting the category or business area
  • Reviews data and reports to understand drivers of success (e.g., consumer behaviors, expectations) 

People Development:

  • Builds and leads a team to execute on business area or category objectives
  • Coaches team members and provides feedback to enhance skills, knowledge and work performance
  • Has performance and career development conversations
  • Maintains team motivation and engagement
  • Mentors Consumer Product Development Specialists

Product Development Strategy:

  • Assists with the development of consumer product development plans 
  • Ensures that existing product development initiatives are consistent with established category strategy
  • Plans and coordinates new consumer product developments and ensures development forecasts are integrated into development plan based on knowledge of short- and longer term needs of a business area or category.
  • Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in business or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Ecommerce
  • Four years of experience in related area
  • Intermediate Level in Microsoft Office
