Associate Merchant, Exclusive Fashion Brands (Private Label)

Walmart eCommerce is looking for a fashion savvy and detail-oriented Associate Merchant who thrives in a fast-paced, start-up environment to join our Exclusive Fashion Brands Team. 

This individual will be responsible for supporting the strategy, development, and execution behind Walmart eCommerce exclusive fashion brands.

Key responsibilities include owning a brand (or brands) holistically across all relevant categories and all attributes including assortment, brand positioning, and item pricing to drive the financial health of the brand, partnering with marketing to grow awareness and demand, and guiding all products from design to development to delivery. We are looking for a strategic, innovative, and resourceful team member with a fantastic eye for product to help drive our exclusive fashion brands to the next level.


Position Description:

• Manage manufacturing partners to deliver seasonally appropriate product assortments; on-time and on-budget
• Regularly interface with brand and design partners to develop and refine assortments
• Liaise with category managers to determine product maximization opportunities and white space
• Own sales targets and growth plans for brand(s)
• Manage assistant who will support all the Brand Manager functions of brand or brands
• Partner with Planning to manage open-to-buy, sell-through, and markdowns
• Optimize pricing by managing product margins and benchmarking competitors
• Collaborate with marketing to define brand marketing campaigns to drive growth and awareness
• Partner with fashion site experience and creative/editorial teams to build online branded experiences and incorporate products into key seasonal campaigns
• Ensure successful online seasonal launches, including product content and listing integrity
• Conduct regular analysis of brand(s), department, and total market segment performance; identifying and capitalizing on business and product opportunities. Continually evolve the brand assortment strategy based on performance, market segment trends, and customer feedback to grow strategically over time


Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Fashion Merchandising Management, or related field
• 5+ years’ experience in fashion product merchandising or buying and product development
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, knowledge  

Preferred Qualifications:

MBA preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Fashion Merchandising Management, or related field
• 5+ years’ experience in fashion apparel merchandising and product development for a vertical fashion company with e-commerce-specific experience
• Ability to fuse art and science to build a data-driven strategic business plan with tangible execution steps and develop product relevant to current fashion and business trends
• Impeccable communication skills and demonstrated ability to form long-term strategic business relationships; including a comfort with pricing negotiation
• Deep experience in online/offline retail and consumer internet technologies
• A honed aesthetic and an obsession with fashion product with a demonstrated ability to develop amazing product and drive top-line and bottom-line growth
• An entrepreneurial mentality: act like an owner, think big, and demonstrate bias for action when problem-solving
• Highly organized with a strong attention to detail; ability to scrutinize your assortment, obsess over operational excellence, and polish the customer experience
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite tools a plus
