What you'll do at

About the Position

Business Relationships:

  • Manages purchase orders with suppliers, buyers and other vendors for sub-category
  • Pursues strategic partnerships with other brands and retailers for sub-category
  • Supports more experienced Category Specialists in the development of best practices for merchandising processes and vendor management

Category Financials:

  • Creates regular sales reports that analyze sub-category performance relative to overall business results
  • Reviews financial performance to determine product and sub-category pricing
  • Tracks performance of sub-category against organizational financial targets (e.g., GMV and margin)

Category Financials:

Category Tracking/Monitoring:

  • Enters and maintains SKUs for multiple products within sub-category
  • Manages and monitors onboarding and item set-up for multiple products or a sub-category, including setting up vendors, processing purchase orders and scheduling appointments with brands
  • Maintains product category data to determine conversion rates for multiple products and/or sub-category
  • Keeps up to date with product trends within sub-category
  • Identifies opportunities to improve category performance through own products or sub-category
  • Effectively navigates multiple systems and sites required to maintain and enter SKUs

Collaboration:

  • Collaborates with category team members
  • Understands SKU overlap and impact on other areas of the business
  • Works with Site Merchandising to understand recommendations and analytics for the sub-category
  • Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans

Market Positioning and Analytics:

  • Leverages analytics and reporting tools to evaluate product performance and make decisions about own area or sub-category
  • Uses analytics to make decisions for own area or sub-category
  • Analyzes product margins and benchmarks for products in the sub-category against competitors
  • Conducts recurring analysis to inform the sub-category's strategic direction, including assortment, product sourcing and pricing
  • Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity
  • Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions

Shopper/Customer Experience:

  • Monitors online presence for products within a sub-category across multiple websites, including product presentation and content
  • Evaluates customer reviews, recognizes trends, considers recommendations from site merchandising and develops observations for assigned sub-category
  • Identifies opportunities and implements tactics to optimize online customer experience and website usability for multiple products within sub-category

Strategic Visioning:

  • Understands the vision of the category and how own sub-category connects to it

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in business or related field
  • One year of experience as a category specialist or in site merchandising, planning, pricing or related area
