Essential Functions

Manages Team of Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Data Analysts in the Design and Execution of Material Handling Automation Projects, from initial feasibility studies to final implementation, across the Sortable and Non-Sortable Ecommerce Fulfillment network (Walmart, Jet, and various Branded Companies). Manages and oversees Contract Management and Contract Award/Approval process with selected Vendors. Closely monitors and manages Team Budgets, Milestone Deliverables, and Vendor relationships, ensuring Business Objectives are being continuously satisfied.

Develops and drives innovative material handling design solutions and processes and supports key strategic initiatives by developing assessments of key opportunities throughout the supply chain network; identifying designs and/or processes with the greatest return on investment (ROI) potential; partnering with business partners (for example, Operations, Supply Chain, Planning, Transportation, Innovations, Vendors, etc) to evaluate best practices; providing recommendations to senior leadership regarding supply chain improvements; leading cross-functional project teams to drive implementation of projects; tracking key performance indicators to assess ROI; comparing actual ROI to expected performance; and presenting performance data to senior leadership.

Drives initiatives to reduce operating expenses within the Supply Chain and Fulfilment Engineering organization and oversees multiple high dollar high complexity Projects throughout all phases of the Project Lifecycle: Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitoring and Controlling, Closure; developing operating and capital budgets and recommending them for approval; reviewing and approving project plans; and collaborating with key business partners (for example, Transportation, Innovations, Walmart stores, Sam's, International business units, Vendors) to ensure sustainable process changes to support business initiatives.

Collaborates with senior and executive leadership team to develop and drive sustainable supply chain strategies by providing guidance on supply chain gaps and areas of opportunity; advising leadership on industry best practices; recommending initiatives with the greatest return on investment (ROI) potential; and overseeing project teams and/or Project Managers to drive initiatives from concept through implementation.

Represents the Fulfillment Engineering Organization across the company and the industry by developing and maintaining professional relationships with educational institutions and professional associations; researching and benchmarking industry best practices and applying them to Walmart's supply chain; communicating with and educating internal teams on supply chain innovations and processes; sourcing and building relationships with teams across the company to utilize their expertise in cross-functional projects; training project managers to leverage expertise across the company; and promoting
and influencing senior leadership on Logistics Engineering initiatives.

Drives the execution of multiple business plans and MHE Projects by identifying operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning.

Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training; mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work environment; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching for success and improvement; and ensuring diversity awareness.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or Technical field and 3+ years of experience in a Technical Leadership role.
  • 2 years in a Managerial / Supervisory Role with Direct Reports

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Business or Technical field.
  • 4+ years of Managing Teams in a Technical Role, ie. Engineering, Manufacturing or Operations.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
